Bruce Lee's close friend calls Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood depiction 'sloppy and somewhat racist'
by Jon Stolworthy
An Article, dated August 18, 2019 and written by Jacob Stolworthy, titled “Bruce Lee's close friend calls Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood depiction 'sloppy and somewhat racist'”, discusses a short article having Bruce Lee’s co-star and daughter calling out the director of the movie, Quentin Tarentino, a dishonest man constructing the character of Bruce Lee as somewhat arrogant, and possibly accusing his persona falsely.
As an Asian-American, it doesn't really hinder me, but as a filmmaker, it is reasonable that the friends and family of the deceased Hollywood star would be offended by this, but it’s Tarentino, he took Bruce Lee into a fictional world where he exists, not to mention Charles Manson made an appearance too. There are works of parodies making jabs of other celebrities, dead or alive, in the end, it’s just a movie.
How you seen Once a Upon a Time in Hollywood? What do you guys think about the movie and its portrayal? Do you guys think Bruce Lee's character has been presented wrongfully?
